RTE-232 shown

Please note: THIS PRODUCT WILL BE DISCONTINUED AFTER THE CURRENT PRODUCTION RUN.

While this has been a popular model for us, the US Department of Commerce has ruled this to be a high tech device that cannot be exported. Orders will be accepted only for domestic US destinations. Without the export market sales we cannot justify continuing this product line.

CI-V units have been sold out and will not be replaced but RS-232 models may be used for ICOM with the standard CI-V to RS-232 adapters. CLICK HERE for special pricing on the remaining available RS232 units. Allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.

What is an "RTE"? The name itself is very descriptive: it is a RADIO TO ETHERNET adapter. They free you of the PC interconnect complexities and greatly improve system reliability (no PC to crash, nothing to "hack"). You can now use your existing rig control software to operate your radio from anywhere in the house or anywhere in the world. Use HR Deluxe software as if it were connected directly to your radio.

  1.  The RTE provides direct connection between your Ethernet LAN (e.g., home system) and your radio without going through a computer. Essentially, it modernizes your radio allowing it to plug directly into the local LAN.
  2. The RTE adds PTT features that may be missing on your radio (e.g., IC-706)
  3. The RTE can automatically turn your radio on/off simply by activating your rig control software. The RTE will detect the requested activity and can activate your system power supply (external relay required).
  4. The RTE will automatically shut off your station if you lose Internet connectivity for any reason. This is a fail-safe mechanism that prevents unwanted lockups.
  5. The RTE can shut off your system power supply and shut down your station simply by closing your rig control software.
  6. The RTE includes a 3 minute timer on the PTT line as required by law for remote operation.
  7. The RTE has two additional optically isolated remote control outputs that can be used for other station control (e.g., amplifier control, antenna switching, etc.)
  8. The RTE can even reboot a distant computer if you want to use one for returning audio for example.
  9. The RTE can activate its companion A2T card to allow it to automatically answer an audio connect request call.
  10. The RTE can control and access RS-232 enabled power meters and antenna rotators (individual RTE units are required for each controlled serial port)

There are two types of RTE units.

1. The RTE-CI-V is designed to interface directly to ICOM radios. No additional CI-V adapter is required.

RTE-CI-V                           This product is no longer available.

Other than the built-in CI-V interface, the main advantage of this unit is its ability to access more than one radio. This is a primary advantage of the CI-V port configuration over standard RS-232.

2. The second type is the RTE-232 which is designed to interface to RS-232 controlled radios. These include Kenwood, Yaesu, Elecraft and others. This unit will also work with ICOM radios, but it will require an RS-232 to CI-V adapter.
